A delicious and easy strawberry French toast recipe that makes a perfect breakfast or brunch. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and topped with fresh strawberries.

  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 slices thick-cut bread (brioche, challah, or your choice)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • Butter or oil, for cooking
  • Optional toppings: maple syrup, powdered sugar, whipped cream, strawberry sauce or compote

Instructions

  1. In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, sugar, and a pinch of salt until fully combined.
  2. Lay bread slices flat. For stuffed French toast, spread cream cheese or mascarpone and layer with sliced strawberries between two slices.
  3. Dip each bread slice into the custard mixture, soaking for 10–15 seconds per side.
  4. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and melt butter or oil.
  5. Cook soaked bread for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown. Cover briefly if making stuffed French toast.
  6. Top with fresh strawberries and optional toppings like maple syrup or powdered sugar.
  7. Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

  • Use thick-cut bread for better texture.
  • Do not over-soak the bread to prevent sogginess.
  • For a dairy-free option, substitute milk with almond or oat milk.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the fridge and reheated in a toaster or oven.
