- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small yellow onion, peeled and diced
- 1 small green bell pepper, seeded and diced
- 1 ½ cups fresh mushrooms, diced
- ½ cup beef broth
- 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 Tablespoon cornstarch
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 6 slices provolone cheese
- 4 hamburger buns
Instructions
- In a large skillet, over medium heat, add ground beef, diced onion, diced green bell pepper, and diced mushrooms.
- Break up the ground beef and sauté until the meat is browned and vegetables are soft. Drain and discard any fat.
- In a small mixing bowl, whisk together beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
- Pour the beef broth mixture into the skillet with the ground beef mixture.
- Let the mixture simmer over low heat for 5-6 minutes, until the broth thickens slightly.
- Check seasoning and adjust if needed.
- Mix in provolone cheese and stir until melted and blended.
- Place the meat on hamburger buns and serve.
Notes
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Serve with a fork or eat as a sandwich.
- For a slow cooker version, follow the same steps but cook on low for 4-6 hours.
