- 1 large butternut squash, halved lengthwise and seeded
- 1 tablespoon butter, cut into pieces
- salt and ground black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Place squash halves cut-side down in a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Pour 2 cups water around the squash.
- Bake for 1½ hours or until tender (add more water if needed).
- Remove from oven and transfer to plates cut-side up.
- Top with butter and season with salt and pepper.
Notes
- Use a sharp knife for easier cutting.
- Check doneness by piercing with a fork.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
