Ingredients
Scale
- 2–2 1/2 pounds ground beef
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1/2 cup chopped bell peppers
- 1/2 cup chopped yellow onion
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup cracker crumbs
- 2 (0.87 ounce) packages brown gravy mix (regular or low sodium)
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
- Combine ground beef, seasonings, bell pepper, onion, cracker crumbs, and egg in a bowl. Mix well.
- Shape into 8 even patties (1/2-3/4 inch thick).
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties in batches (3-4 at a time) for 5 minutes per side. Drain excess grease between batches.
- After cooking patties, leave 1 tablespoon of grease in the skillet. Add 2 cups water and scrape up browned bits.
- Whisk in gravy mix and Worcestershire sauce until smooth.
- Once gravy thickens, return patties to the skillet and simmer for 5-10 minutes until fully cooked.
- Serve over mashed potatoes, noodles, or rice.
Notes
- Use lean ground beef (80/20) for best texture.
- Substitute breadcrumbs if cracker crumbs are unavailable.
- For darker gravy, cook the patties until well-browned before deglazing.
