  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1/2 cup chopped bell peppers
  • 1/2 cup chopped yellow onion
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup cracker crumbs
  • 2 (0.87 ounce) packages brown gravy mix (regular or low sodium)
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Combine ground beef, seasonings, bell pepper, onion, cracker crumbs, and egg in a bowl. Mix well.
  2. Shape into 8 even patties (1/2-3/4 inch thick).
  3. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties in batches (3-4 at a time) for 5 minutes per side. Drain excess grease between batches.
  4. After cooking patties, leave 1 tablespoon of grease in the skillet. Add 2 cups water and scrape up browned bits.
  5. Whisk in gravy mix and Worcestershire sauce until smooth.
  6. Once gravy thickens, return patties to the skillet and simmer for 5-10 minutes until fully cooked.
  7. Serve over mashed potatoes, noodles, or rice.

  • Use lean ground beef (80/20) for best texture.
  • Substitute breadcrumbs if cracker crumbs are unavailable.
  • For darker gravy, cook the patties until well-browned before deglazing.
