Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- ⅓ cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten
- 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- Salt & pepper, to taste
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 medium yellow onion, thinly sliced
- 2 Tbsp butter
- 2 Tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1½ cups beef broth
- Optional: browning sauce or additional Worcestershire for deeper flavor
Instructions
- Combine ground beef, panko, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Mix lightly and shape into 4 patties.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties for 2–3 minutes per side until browned but not fully cooked. Remove and keep warm.
- Add onions and butter to the skillet. Cook until soft and caramelized, about 4–5 minutes.
- Sprinkle flour over onions, stir for 30 seconds, then gradually whisk in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer until gravy thickens slightly.
- Return patties to skillet, spoon gravy over them, cover, and cook on low heat for 5 minutes or until done.
- Adjust seasoning and serve hot.
Notes
- Do not overmix the beef to keep patties tender.
- Let the gravy simmer to thicken properly.
- Serve with mashed potatoes or rice.
