  • 4 cups fresh green beans, cut
  • 1 can (10 ¾ oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • ½ cup cream or ⅓ cup milk
  • ½ cup crispy fried onions
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 pound ground beef, chicken, turkey, pork, or sausage
  • 1 small onion, chopped fine
  • 34 medium-large russet potatoes, unpeeled
  • ¼ cup butter, melted
  • ¼ cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • ¼ cup crispy fried onions (divided)
  • 1 cup shredded cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×9-inch casserole dish.
  2. Boil green beans for 5 minutes or until bright green. Drain.
  3. Mix soup, soy sauce, ½ cup fried onions, and milk or cream. Add beans and combine.
  4. Place bean mixture at the bottom of the dish.
  5. Brown ground meat with diced onions until cooked. Drain and layer over beans.
  6. Boil potatoes for 15 minutes until tender. Drain, then mash with butter, milk or cream, and Parmesan.
  7. Spread potato mixture over meat layer.
  8. Sprinkle remaining fried onions and shredded cheese on top.
  9. Bake uncovered for 45 minutes.
  10. Broil for 5 minutes until cheese browns. Serve hot.
