Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 8 oz green beans, trimmed and cut in half
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (more or less to taste)
- 2 tsp fresh ginger, grated
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp canola oil (or other neutral oil with high smoke point)
- 1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce
- 4 cloves garlic, finely minced or grated
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon ginger root, grated
- 1 teaspoon chili garlic sauce
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
Instructions
- Whisk together all marinade ingredients in a bowl.
- Place ground beef in a medium bowl, pour marinade over it, and stir to combine. Let sit for 20 minutes.
- Heat oil in a sauté pan over medium-high heat. Cook green beans for 3-4 minutes until starting to blister.
- Add ginger, garlic, and red pepper flakes. Cook 30-60 seconds until fragrant. Remove from pan and set aside.
- Add marinated beef to the pan. Cook until browned.
- Return green beans to the pan. Stir to combine.
- Cook until excess moisture evaporates.
Notes
- For tender-crisp green beans, avoid overcooking.
- Frozen green beans can be used if fresh aren’t available.
- Cook ground beef until fully browned for best texture.
- Cornstarch in the marinade helps thicken the sauce.
