- 2 pounds ground beef
- 8 ounces bacon, chopped
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 6 ounces tomato paste
- 1 can (15.5 oz) fire-roasted diced tomatoes
- 3 cans (15.5 oz each) beans (pinto, black, kidney), rinsed
- 3 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tbsp smoked paprika
- 1 tbsp cumin
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
- Sliced green onions (optional garnish)
- Shredded cheddar cheese (optional garnish)
- Sour cream (optional garnish)
Instructions
- Brown beef, bacon, onion, and garlic in a pot over medium-high heat for 15 minutes.
- Add spices and cook for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
- Stir in broth, tomato paste, tomatoes, and beans. Simmer for 5-10 minutes.
- Garnish with green onions, cheese, and sour cream before serving.
Notes
- For thicker chili, simmer longer or mash some beans.
- Adjust spice levels to taste.
- Chili tastes better the next day as flavors meld.
