A hearty and flavorful dish combining ground beef, macaroni, and cheese with chili spices.

Ingredients

  • 1 yellow onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 2 Tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 Tbsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 8 oz. tomato sauce
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 1/2 lb. uncooked macaroni
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar

Instructions

  1. Dice the yellow onion and mince the garlic. Add them to a large deep skillet or Dutch oven with olive oil and sauté over medium heat until soft (about 5 minutes).
  2. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.
  3. Add flour, chili powder, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and oregano. Cook and stir for 2 minutes.
  4. Pour in tomato sauce and beef broth. Stir well, scraping any browned bits.
  5. Add uncooked macaroni and stir. Cover and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Mix in half the shredded cheese, sprinkle the rest on top, cover, and let melt. Serve hot.

Notes

  • Use lean ground beef to reduce excess fat.
  • Adjust chili powder for more or less heat.
  • Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
